Two of the contractors for Apple's Campus 2 project have reportedly been let go by the company.
This development is said to come after the companies, DPR Construction and Skanska USA failed to negotiate their continued involvement in Campus 2. The two companies will move off of the project over the next few weeks, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal:
The joint venture of DPR Construction Inc. and Skanska USA "will transition completely off the project in the next several weeks," according to an internal email sent to Skanska employees, which I reviewed this week.
Both DPR and Skanska were apparently originally contracted to build out the "core and shell" of Apple Campus 2, but negotiations broke down as they tried to redefine the scope of their work. However, the exact reason for the deal's failure is not clear at this time. Apple may have already found their replacement, possibly in Atlanta-based Holder Construction.
Apple has previously said that they hope to open Campus 2 at some point in 2016.
