WD's 9.5mm Scorpio Blue 1TB laptop hard drive gets benchmarked

These days, it's hard to shake the urge to pop a solid state drive into your next laptop, but even if you're down with dropping the requisite coin, the restrictive capacity choices may make it darn near impossible for pack rats to bite. For those fitting squarely into that category, there's Western Digital's newest laptop drive: the 9.5mm 1TB Scorpio Blue. It's one of the first in this form factor (read: the one that slips into most everything smaller than a Clevo) to hit the 1TB milestone, and at just $99, it's a veritable bargain. The benchmarking gurus over at Hot Hardware threw it through the usual gauntlet of tests, pitting it against a 500GB Scorpio Black and a 640GB Seagate Momentus. As you'd likely expect, the 1TB spinner bested the competition in SiSoftware, ATTO and CrystalDiskMark tests, though not by a tremendous margin. Still, taking performance up a notch while also boasting a full terabyte of space makes it somewhat of a no-brainer for capacity freaks, and you can hit the source for a barrage of charts proving as much.

Developers fuming over missing app comments; Google says it's looking into it

Android Central App

We've been watching what's become a bit of a thing the past several days in the Android Market. Developers have seen a significant number of comments disappear from their app listings -- hundreds, at times. And for developers, app ratings and comments are lifeblood. While we don't think anyone would complain if the one-star trolling comments (you know who you are) would disappear, five-star comments have been caught up in the purge as well.

The "good" news, if there is any here, is that a Googler has responded to a support thread, saying:

We're aware of this issue and working to resolve it as quickly as we can. I'll post a follow-up message when I have additional information to share with you.

No ETA on when the comments might be restored, however, and we've put in word with Google, seeking a more official response.

Photon 4G kickstand

The best part about having the best Android community around? Easy answer to stupid problems. See, as Android Central Forums member Quis points out, when you're using kickstand on the Motorola Photon 4G like in the picture above, you can't charge at the same time because the microUSB port is resting against the table/desk/laptop whatever. Oops.

Fellow forums member RickNY points out the easy fix -- the Photon's kickstand is sturdy enough to support the phone backwards. And, sure enough, flip it over and the phone stays up, and the widget clock works, too. Easy solution to a dumb problem. Nicely done, folks!
