Apple Watch orders move to 'preparing for shipment' as customer cards start being charged

Apple has started charging customers who pre-ordered the Apple Watch and order statuses have begun changing from "processing" to "preparing for shipment."

A number of Twitter users reported that their credit cards had started being charged for their Apple Watch pre-orders earlier today, and the charges were quickly followed up with order statuses changing to "preparing for shipment."

This follows up news from earlier today that Apple had started sending the first round of Apple Watch orders to distribution centers in preparation for shipment. The timing makes sense, as the initial launch date supplied by Apple for the wearable was April 24 — though shipping estimates after the device went up for pre-order on April 10 slipped into June. In any event, it looks like those lucky few who were the first to get their pre-orders in might not have to wait too much longer to get the hands (or wrists?) on an Apple Watch.
