Sonos Play:1 appears on store shelves despite no official release

Sonos Play:1 appears on store shelves despite no official release

Sonos has a new product in town, which despite not having been formally announced has been spotted on store shelves in the U.S. The Sonos Play:1 appears to be a smaller, lower priced entry point into the Sonos ecosystem – which of course can hook in to your iPhone or iPad and your iTunes music library – according to this image obtained by The Verge.

The store in question is Target, and at $199.99 the Play:1 is the cheapest in the range. Details on it are virtually non-existent at this time, like whether it has a battery in the vein of a portable speaker, and what kind of output we're looking at. From what we can see, it looks as though the Play:1 could be a perfect add-on speaker to an existing Sonos set up. Until we get an official word from Sonos though, we'll have to hang tight.

Based on this glimpse, does the Play:1 look like something you'd add to your setup? Or perhaps the price point is enticing enough to make you finally take the plunge?
