Apple to retire Aperture development in favor of Photos

Apple to retire Aperture development in favor of Photos

Apple announced a new Photos app for Mac at WWDC, which is set to bump out the existing Aperture editor, according to a recent statement from Apple. iPhoto will also be replaced, but development for Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro will continue. Apple provided the follow quote to The Loop:

With the introduction of the new Photos app and iCloud Photo Library, enabling you to safely store all of your photos in iCloud and access them from anywhere, there will be no new development of Aperture. When Photos for OS X ships next year, users will be able to migrate their existing Aperture libraries to Photos for OS.

Check out the rest of Dalrymple's report for all the details and then come back and let me know – How many of you use Aperture regularly, and how optimistic are you Photos will fit your workflow?
