There good news today for those of you who have been wishing you could sign up for
Hulu Plus: the service has officially launched. Better yet, they've knocked the price down from $9.99 to $7.99 -- and preview users will get a credit back for the difference. The price drop has a lot to do with the
recent testing of Netflix's streaming-only plan (which is also $7.99 per month).
Hulu's launch announcement also includes plenty of ways to enjoy a little Plus for free:
- Buyers of new Sony Bravia TVs or Blu-ray players can get 11 free weeks
- New Roku device purchasers get one month free
- Preview users will get one week free as a thank-you
- Current Hulu customers get a two-week free trial
The
announcement also mentions a slew of new devices which will be getting access to Hulu, from Vizio Blu-Ray players to Western Digital's Live TV Plus media player. There's also mention of enhancements to existing Hulu apps for iOS devices and the PS3 which are coming soon -- though no specific details were given.
