Microsoft Security Essentials now officially offers free antivirus protection for small businesses

With 30 million users in 74 countries -- amassed in just over a year -- Microsoft Security Essentials' rise to popularity has been nothing short of meteoric. So it really didn't come as a surprise last month when people were overjoyed at news from the Microsoft SMB Community Blog: Security Essentials was about to become free for use in small business settings.

The change took place yesterday, so if you're looking after the IT needs of a business (or businesses) with 10 Windows computers or less, you can now install Microsoft Security Essentials in good conscience. It's every bit as capable as the big-name paid antivirus apps, and it's even better than some (we're looking at you, McAfee).
