If you own an iphone you must have at one point come across the term firmware. This is an operating system that Apple Company creates for specific type of iphone. The iphone firmware, regardless if it’s original or custom is the operating system that brings the iphone to life, and its graphic user interface has not changed since the introduction of the iphone. This is why many people believe that iphones are over priced toys with virtually no value, though this is just a few of these people, iphone firmware lets you personalize it with different applications to reflect your personal theme.

It is possible to both downgrade and upgrade your iphone firmware depending on which firmware you use, and what modem baseband it is. This has become a popular topic and many people who upgraded their iphones to the iphone firmware to OS 4.3 with baseband 6.15 have been unable to downgrade to the previous other firm wares. The original iphone firmware is available from Apple Store. If you own a windows operated pc you should download the latest itunes, however if you own a Mac book, or any system that runs on Mac osx then you probably have itunes already installed.

The nest step you need to take is to connect your iphone to the computer using a USB cable. Itunes will pick up the iphone and choose upgrade, itunes and your iphone will do everything and once finished you will have an iphone with the latest 0S. It’s very important to note that they are many ways that you can install iphone firmware on your iphone without having to download it from Apple website. Most of these firmwares are used for jail breaking an iphone to remove carrier restriction. Iphones come with carrier lock, that is, it is ‘impossible’ to use another sim card on your iphone except the service provider that you bought your from.

Carrier unlocking your iphone with a custom firmware will make your warranty, if you had one void; this is because Apple disapproves the use of custom firmware as they don’t carry the apple signature. It is however a simple task of upgrading or updating your iphone firmware without having an internet connection. To install custom firmware on your iphone will require you to jail break it first- for this you can use special soft wares such as redsnow, ireb, letrain and many others. These soft wares will put your iphone in DFU mode; this is the ideal environmental parameters that will be needed to be able to flash the firmware. Once you have connected the iphone to the pc and itunes have picked it up press shift( on your keyboard) and locate where you put the custom firmware. This step is very easy and will probably take a small amount of time to complete.

We highly recommend the use of custom firmware, primarily because they can help you resolve some of the problems associated with upgrade your iphone using the Apple website. They are many errors that occurs when you are upgrading and can put your iphone into stand by mode, there fore you will need to use software such as ireb to jail break it to boot normally, this can either tethered or untethered  jail breaking.
