Last April when Apple released the original iPad to the market you had to wait in line in some cases to get your hands on the exciting new tablet device. Many orders were put on hold and some countries even had to wait for the iPad to become available.
This April, when the dazzling new iPad 2 is released Apple plans to be more on top of overall production. The company is making efforts in order to avoid a repeat where supply doesn’t match customer demand.
It’s been confirmed that Apple has added 4 new contracted suppliers to the loop of manufacturers to build any-layer HDI-PCB boards for the iPad 2. The new companies include Gold Circuit Electronics, Nan Ya PCB, Compeq Manufacturing and Meiko.
Some experts still believe it was all part of Apple’s plan, keeping production low at first for the original iPad in order to increase demand, all part of a larger marketing agenda.
In other words, psychologically speaking, the harder something is to get the more people want it. Being the only company at the time selling a tablet computer device they were in a position to take such a risk. Whether this is true or not is uncertain, either way Apple remains in the Forbes top 100 wealthiest companies so they are obviously doing something right.
The important thing is consumers shouldn’t have to wait so long, if at all, this time around when the iPad 2 is launched to the public this April.
Despite low unit volumes of the original iPad in the beginning, Apple still went on to sell nearly 15 million units in less than 9 months from April to December of 2010. It will be interesting to see what records the iPad 2 will set in 2011.
