Surgeon Simulator, the wacky (and very, very difficult) sim game for PC and Mac, may be headed to iPad. That's the word from Bossa Studios, the game's developer, who showed off a prototype version of the game to the press at Eurogamer Expo, according to Joystiq.
Surgeon Simulator was originally developed over a two-day period as an entrant for the 2013 Global Game Jam. A prototype version was developed for play on the Web and a full version of the game is available for Mac and Windows from Valve's Steam game download service.
In Surgeon Simulator, you're the surgeon, playing from a first person perspective. You use the mouse and keyboard to move your hand and fingers as you attempt to complete various surgical procedures without killing your patient. Eventually you can participate in challenging bonus modes like surgery in a moving ambulance and surgery in zero-G. Part of the appeal is the difficulty, not to mention the sheer ridiculousness of the situation.
Bossa still seems to be on the fence about a tablet version; some of their decision is dependent on trying to get the control system right. But it's definitely built using scaling technology. The Unity 3D engine upon which the game is built has been used for many, many great iPad games.
